Wealth and Popularity versus Honor and Character (Proverbs 22 Bible Study)

[Written December 1st, 2025] Hey, I hope you all are doing well. I was inspired to write this post when I was in the midst of my Bible Study on November 29th. In my New Beginnings book, it was titled "You Are Watched Continually" where it compares wealth and popularity versus honor and character. 

In today's society, everyone thinks about being wealthy and being recognized by everyone. We all want to seek validation based on our work ethic and our possessions. We all want to engage in the hustle culture to "get in our bag" and climb to the top of the ladder regarding our status quo. This is only temporary. There is no character development when all that is on your mind is about your plans, your dreams, and your desires before you pass on... and everyone can see that. 

What we should focus on is our character. Your character is what matters when you pass on and what people focus on these days. Now is the time to focus on what you want people to know you for based on your natural personality. God cares about how we honor Him and how we live our life in the appropriate manner. We should honor God in a way that is appropriate and will not have people astray from being a God-fearing individual. 

In the past, I was focused on popularity and success based on the content I made. I was eventually thinking about wealth and how it could benefit me. Now, I focus on the internal aspect of my life...with how God wants me to live and a way to encourage others that popularity and wealth are only temporary. What matters most is your character and how you perceive yourself to the world. God led me away from the content I used to make and led me to focus on my inner being. My mind was focused on the amount of views I got and going along with the algorithm that it clouded my mind away from what God had in store for me. Now, I listen to God and focus on the character that God has built in me. 

I truly think God for making me a better, different person each day... and you will too once you start to include Him in your life and your plans. I suggest you read Proverbs 22 today; it will give you insight on how others perceive you and think about how people view you versus how you want to be viewed in God's Eyes.

Hey, [ Started November 28th, 2025] I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving with loved ones. I know I was happy to spend quality time with family away from social media (this is the first year where I did not post the antics, but instead used my digital camera to capture memories) . During this month, I decided to read the book of Ecclesiastes that was recommended by my sister. I can say that as of November 28th, I'm halfway through the book and there's a lot of takeaways that I've taken in during my Bible Study. In the first six chapters, Solomon tells readers about what is considered vanity. I noticed that there was a trend among these chapters... and that is going after money and other worldly possessions. When I read through the first six chapters, my eyes were opened with what was vain.  I talked about this previously in a podcast episode that I used to consume a lot of items that was not connected with my spiritual walk. Be Still by Cece Winans

 Hey,  I hope you're having a great day today. In this blog post, I will sharing with you a song by none other than Cece Winans on being still and having God intervene in your life and move the pieces :).
