Hey,
I wanted to talk to you about the title of this blog post. I would always talk about this before my transformation journey and would never live it out. I forgot all about this quote until I was speaking with a loved one recently. If you would like to know more about how I think of this quote, then keep reading.
I used to live to work. I would do this by spending hours on lesson planning, grading papers, and speaking with parents in the wee-hours of the night. I was working to impress man...sinking into the hustle culture. I saw myself as a girl boss that wanted to get to the top of the pedestal and to get my tenure. Throughout the years of me sinking into the hustle culture, it has not made me happy... I was mores stressed. I even delved into the hustle culture with the content that I used to make. I would carve time out away from family with filming and editing so that I could get the perfect content out at the right time to align with the algorithm.
Now I work to live. You maybe wondering: how do you work to live? I've done this by changing my job title; cutting down on my workload and changing my mindset. With changing my job title, I still have my schedule with the exception of having some days off. The current job title I have does not consist of grading papers or lesson planning. I truly am living a soft life. I am going with the flow of life like how God designed it to be. We all have to work to provide and pay the bills, but not live above the means of the budget. I even have cut down on my content and the thought process of not going by the algorithm. I've cleared my mindset on what the world wants and am living by what the Word says. I feel light nowadays... I can breathe :).
Overall, I do not live for the world; I live for God and what pleases Him. Like what Proverbs 3:9 says, "Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase." I have decided to enjoy the Fruits that God has granted me and not reach above where I should be.
Note: I'm not saying that you should quit your job and start something new. I'm saying not to take so much on your plate; take some time to enjoy what you have and live softly, not in the rush what today's society promotes.
