We Need to Prepare Ourselves

Hey,
I hope you're having a great day today. In this blog post, I will be sharing with you my takeaway from 1 Thessalonians 5. I've been hearing this topic preached upon numerous times...and let's just say that I've received the confirmation in more than one chapter in my recent Bible Study sessions. If you would like to know more about my takeaways, then keep reading.

Below are the takeaways to know that the end is near. Note that I'm not a ministry major or want to instill fear in anyone; I'm going by what it says in the Word; what's been preached, and what my loved ones and I have discussed. I looked at 1 Thessalonians 5 on May 3rd according to my journal. Here is the list on my takeaways that I can say is definite confirmation that the end is near:

  • There is not set time for the Lord to appear (1 Thessalonians 5:2). None of us know when the time is  near; not even Jesus Himself knew when that would be. However, He did share signs that the end is near in Mark 13.
  • We are light once we become one with God (1 Thessalonians 5:5). Once we turn our lives over to God; we pick up our cross, and we walk with Christ...we are no longer consumed by darkness; we are of light because Jesus is the light of the world. Now is the time to turn to God; be saved, and start walking with Christ.
  • Be vigilant on when the time is coming (1 Thessalonians 5:6-7). When you hear the trumpet sound, make sure you're fully alert to see His Face. Also, stay sober-minded and do not become drunk.
  • Keep praying the Armor of God over your life (1 Thessalonians 5:8). If you're not sure what the full Armor of God is, please be sure to read Ephesians 6 from the Bible. This needs to be prayed over your mind and spirit so that you can stand firm against the enemy's schemes.
  • Spread the gospel so all can hear and prepare themselves for the end (1 Thessalonians 5:14-15). There are multiple ways to spread the gospel. You could host a Bible Study night themed around a scripture in which you would like to read. You can share inspiring testimonies and video devotions to someone who needs that pick me up. However, you should share the Word as is from the Bible and not twist God's Words around. The goal is to get people to connect with God, not to deceive them on the wrong information.
  • Keep praying and do not grow weary (1 Thessalonians 5:16-28). Even when times are tough, keep praying. Pray 24/7, not depending on if you're in a good mood or going through a rough patch. Hold onto good preachings and takeaways to stay on your walk with Christ. Do not go against what God says in the Bible or hate those who only love you and want for you to start your walk with Christ.

Recently I read Mark 13 and 2 Timothy 3. Both these passages combined are other signs that the end is near and is very evident in today's society. Below are my next set of takeaways:

  • Do not let anyone deceive you (many people will be deceived), including those who are in the church (Mark 13:5-6 and 2 Timothy 3:13). Use discernment when listening to the sermons and don't forget to fact check those who are preaching by going back into the Bible and rereading the scripture for the day. Some women will be deceived as well by men who come as wolves in sheep's clothing (2 Timothy 3:6-7).
  • "And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shallnot be yet " (Mark 13:7). At this time, there are wars among different nations. However, this is not the ending...this is only the beginning.
  • Going along Mark 13:7, Mark 13:8 states that there will be natural disasters (i.e, tornadoes and storms) that will take place across the globe.
  • Also in Mark 13:8 it states that there shall be famine among the people. Look at the food prices and the gas prices...all are going up and the suffering of people are only greater.
  • "But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them "(Mark 13:9 and 2 Timothy 3:12). At some point, some worldly people will be opposed to Christians. Look at Nigeria for instance, lots of citizens has had to suffer (and have lost their lives) as a result of their belief towards God.
  • There will be family members that go against one another- from siblings going against one another to children being disobedient to their parents. It's happening now...and it's proven in Mark 13:12 alongside 2 Timothy 3:2.
  • Anyone who preaches the gospel will be hated by many (Mark 13:13 and 2 Timothy 3:3). We've seen this unfold with well-known pastors who preach from the Bible receive the most hate. I've noticed since my shift in content that I get less views and watch hours. I'm not making this up; this is happening before our eyes.
  • People will become jealous of one another for what they have...to the point where they're ungrateful for what is  in front of them. We will also have braggers that show off their worldly possessions (2 Timothy 3:2). This happens both on social media and away from the screens.
  • Mark 13:14-18 tells us what we should do when we hear that trumpet sound. 1. Do not turn back to grab anything; go with what you have on (make sure you're properly clothed). 2. Protect yourself if you're a mother with a newborn (Mark 13:7). 3. Pray and hope that you are not on a plane or that the end takes place during the winter season (Mark 13:18).
  • Do not believe other people when they say Jesus is here as they are talking about the antichrist (Mark 13:21-23). Jesus will appear from the sky in the clouds (Mark 13:26). This imagery places a smile on my face as I'm typing this out :).
  • All of the signs that we see on the news and is unfolding around us has to happen to fulfill the prophecy (Mark 13:30). There are people who will let fear get to them whenever they see all events from the headlines unfold while other people will have faith and know that this was meant to be (2 Timothy 3:1). What we need to do is turn to God NOW, repent, and pray (Mark 13:33 and 37).

I do not want you to take just my word for it; I highly suggest that you read these three chapters as this is to inspire you and is a teaching tool (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Also, look at the headlines of each news station to see that what's in the Bible is coming to life. Do not let this information scare you; I'm only sharing this to encourage you to change your life now and start your walk with Christ. Have a blessed day and enjoy.

[Addition on June 23rd, 2026] I watched a video recently describing the end times. It's very informative and I believe you will love it too.

I also wanted to relink this song here as well by 2819 Church describing how Jesus will appear and how everyone will receive Him.

When Hearts Touch

Hey,  I'm here with my first movie recommendation. It's called When Hearts Touch. This animated movie is based on a book that was already published in Nigeria. This movie is about a 9-year-old boy in a village who did not have money, but he had his parents which kept him happy. Sadly, both parents passed on...leading to Preye's struggle. During the struggle, Preye was searching for food...sometimes he would look for a job and receive food as part of his payment. It wasn't until Preye met the farmer when his life began to change. Here's a movie trailer so you could get a sneak preview 😊.  If you would like to watch this movie, you can find it on Tubi.

Vanities

Hey, [ Started November 28th, 2025] I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving with loved ones. I know I was happy to spend quality time with family away from social media (this is the first year where I did not post the antics, but instead used my digital camera to capture memories) . During this month, I decided to read the book of Ecclesiastes that was recommended by my sister. I can say that as of November 28th, I'm halfway through the book and there's a lot of takeaways that I've taken in during my Bible Study. In the first six chapters, Solomon tells readers about what is considered vanity. I noticed that there was a trend among these chapters... and that is going after money and other worldly possessions. When I read through the first six chapters, my eyes were opened with what was vain.  I talked about this previously in a podcast episode that I used to consume a lot of items that was not connected with my spiritual walk. Since then, I've gotten rid of those items...

Be Still by Cece Winans

Hey,  I hope you're having a great day today. In this blog post, I will sharing with you a song by none other than Cece Winans on being still and having God intervene in your life and move the pieces :). Below is the video, please enjoy.  In Psalm 46:10 from the Bible, it states "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted into the earth." We, as God's children, need to be still for God is the true ruler of the Heavens and the earth and will have all things work out for our good. I will also share with you the lyric version below as well. Have a great day :).
